About
Spindletop Refuge
Leah Purcell has single-handedly owned
and operated Spindletop for fifteen years.
She has worked hard to build Spindletop's
positive reputation with local law enforcement,
animal control, shelters and other rescues, district
attorneys and breed fanciers both locally and
across the nation. She runs several home based
businesses to pay for the rescue efforts out of
her own pocket, which totals over $12,000 monthly
on average. A paid kennel staff is needed to allow
Leah to handle and train the dogs several times daily.
Leah has owner-handler titled several of her personal
American Staffordshire & Pit Bull Terriers in
conformation as well as obedience, lure-coursing,
agility and other fun events. She has been an expert witness
on the breed in several court cases and courts nationwide have
entrusted the care of seized dogs to Spindletop. Leah also shares her
home with cats, rescued potbelly pigs and pigeons

Spindletop dogs save
lives! Our rescued dogs are in the canine blood donor program and
provide emergency transfusions to dying pets. All program dogs are
certified free of blood borne disease. We give back to our community!

We are an IRS nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible.

Alliance Incorporated, National American Bulldog Rescue Alliance.
